Online Education is a Boon or Curse to the students during COVID-19 Situation
The
pandemic has changed our lives in various ways. We have no alternative but to
change our lifestyle according to the rules and preventive measures taken up by
the government. These changes include online education.
Educational
institutions are closed. Earlier, this would have meant that students could not
receive education any longer. However, we have found a way out of this through
technology. Using technology as a key, we have opened the lock of a more
convenient educational system. However, a question is still left unanswered: is
online education a boon or a curse?
As we all know,
everything has its pros and cons, and each has numerous reasons.
Online education proven to be a boon as It offers ‘flexibility’ as you can learn at your own pace with the help of recorded videos. It also caters to your comfort level and enables you to study from your home. It is one of the most cheap and convenient method as Students can send files to their teachers through the internet, which requires only a device and a strong internet connection. It is also a fastest mode of education as one can send many files in just a few minutes.
Although online education is considered to be the boon it also has its cons on the other side i.e due to online learning students face internet network issues specially in rural areas. Students even may have health related issues by continuously sitting for longer hours In an online class there is minimal physical interactions between students and teachers. This often result in a sense of isolation for the students.
In my opinion online learning affects the mental well-being of the students as they are locked and not able to explore their friends and the real outer world experience. In offline learning students learn to work as a team. Also, able to meet new people and learn about different cultures and cuisines. If online classes become reality, most of the students are going to miss their life lessons. Online teaching is certainly a bonus and can be a supplement but it cannot be a replacement.

ReplyDeleteinterection through technoly is not the same as face to face interection, and it has documented that such interection in large amounts leads to antisocial behaviour and anxiety when engaging in real world.
